Description
Details: Rugged – Built from 100%, genuine full-grain cow leather, meticulously hand stitched on a double needle machine, using heavy duty nylon/cotton thread. Reinforced stitching at stress points. Double needle seams throughout. Durable – This is not a coat you need to baby along…the more you rough it up, the better it gets. Vegetable tanned, drum dyed and hand finished in Italy. The topside is hand-tipped and slightly sanded to achieve a rich sueded hand-feel and a patina that evolves with hard, meaningful wear. Functional – Expandable shoulder gussets for increased mobility and comfort. Rancher style cuffs lined with 100% cotton corduroy, with two vertically set adjustable button closures. The collar is also lined with corduroy and set on a thoughtfully shaped collar stand and has ample height for fully blocking side-on wind and other elements. The body and sleeves are fully lined with quilted rayon twill with 80gm poly-fil for an added layer of warmth. Hand Cut / Hand Tailored – Every hide is individually selected at the tannery for grain consistency, thickness, and absence of scars. Each panel of leather is matched to its adjacent part before it is hand cut with a head knife. Each component of the coat: the sleeves, the collar, the cuffs are hand tailored and fit for precision joinery. All of this happens, not in a factory, but in a humble shop the size of a soup kitchen by three master leather craftsmen who’ve been at this for a combined 120 yrs. The Wearing – If this coat could talk, it would confidently tell you it couldn’t care less what it’s being paired with. A simple long sleeve t-shirt or our heavy Maine Lobstermen’s Sweater. It just doesn’t matter! Once saddled upon your shoulders, it takes full command of its surroundings and whatever else you are wearing falls in line. And by the way, this coat will speak loudly without whispering a sound. Only 35 coats built in this initial production run.
